How catalog parts are added to GAPC

Community-driven database

Background

GAPC (Global Auto Parts Catalog) is Partly's proprietary parts catalog containing over 42 million aftermarket, OE and OEM catalog parts and nearly 400 million fitments.

Alongside fitment, GAPC also contains category, position, cross-reference, attributes, and brand information.

How catalog parts are added to GAPC

GAPC is created from over 400 different sources. These include:

  • In-house research

Partly's has a data and cataloging team dedicated to researching and linking OEM part numbers.

  • Manufacturers

Manufacturers can add their parts to the GAPC, either by manually uploading parts, or by translating their fitment from other major formats.

Community-driven database

Partly has a consensus algorithm which allows auto parts sellers to add and modify GAPC. This consensus algorithm is firstly based on authority, then common opinion.

Firstly, a manufacturer registered on Partly will have the highest authority on their parts. Distributors can apply to be a trusted seller.

Any one with with a PartsPal account can request modifications or additions to GAPC. If there are conflicting information for single part, the majority opinion will determine the fitment. Our in-house team also moderate and ensure that the information is as accurate as possible.
